We work with companies of all types. Each installation requires unique solutions for computing power, servers and phone systems, but what is common to each of them is the need for a plan and some forethought. Too many times we are brought in after the decisions have been made, and we could have helped these companies come up with a better plan.
Before you finish your business plan, or your plan for expansion, it is a wise idea to call in some expert help to design a network to meet your computing needs. People are the most important element in any company, followed closely by the tools they will use to keep that company running efficiently. The better the plan, the more efficient the company can be.
While there are companies who invest in laptops for their employees, unless you have people who often work in the field, a better choice maybe desktop systems. It’s easier to keep data secure when the system stays in the office.Desktops stand up better to wear and tear, plus there are desktops that are easily upgraded when more computing power is required. Depending upon the type of work you do, having more than one monitor to enable your people to have multiple screens available could be important.
Operating systems and servers are also up there in importance. In fact, when you are running a network, I would venture to say it’s of primary importance,. The server software has to be able to efficiently run the entire network without slowing people down, and it may be that you need more than one server. It also eliminates the need to the same data to be stored on multiple computers. The server can be set up so that collaboration between different departments is possible. It can also be that certain files will not be available to everyone, such as employees personal data and payroll, or customer files. Cloud storage and backup is another option, depending upon how you feel about keeping your data somewhere other than on site. Sometimes a combination of on-site servers with cloud backup is the best way to go.
There is also the question of how to integrate mobile devices such as tablets and cell phones into your network. Tablets and cell phones enable your people to communicate with you while they are out on the job. There are so many useful apps these days which will run on tablets which can allow your people to do things like estimates, plans and drawings right at the customer site. These are great tools, but along with these tools comes the need for better security and software to properly interface the devices in with your network.
We are happy to work alongside you to make certain you have the right tools for your current workload, but also have a system that can grow as your company grows.
